Gas cylinder explodes near MoD car parking

KABUL (Pajhwok): A gas cylinder exploded near a car parking at the Ministry of Defense (MoD) on Saturday, damaging a vehicle, an official said.

MoD spokesman Maj. Gen. Dawlat Waziri told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place around 8:20am.

He said the driver of a Ranger pick-up was heating his vehicle when the blast happened, which was initially taken as a bomb blast. But the MoD engineering team later found it was a gas cylinder explosion.

However, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the fighters had hit the MoD main gate with a bomb. He claimed four workers of the ministry suffered casualties in the incident.
