Taliban stone Logar couple to death on adultery charge

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The Taliban have stoned to death a couple over adultery charges in the Muhammad Agha district of central Logar province, an official said on Monday.

The governor’s spokesman, Salim Saleh, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident happened in Ab Bazak area on Sunday.

“The Taliban convicted and stoned a young boy and a girl in public until they die,” he added.

Saleh said security forces had initiated an investigation for arresting the perpetrators.

A local resident named Qayum told Pajhwok Afghan News he witnessed the Sunday’s stoning. “I was present there. First the Taliban collected our cell phones and then a senior Taliban leader ordered the coupe to be stoned. People present there stoned them until they died.”

Efforts at seeking comments from the Taliban did not succeed.

Ab Bazak is located 25km south of Kabul in Mohammad Agha district, which is under Taliban’s control.
