ASADABAD/JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Daesh militant group’s recruitment in-charge for eastern Kunar province has been detained. In neighboring Nangarhar province, a bomb blast injured three civilians, officials said Tuesday.
Kunar police chief Maj. Gen. Juma Gul Himmat said police arrested the so-called Islamic State group’s recruitment in-charge named Attuallah along with an accomplice on Monday.
He said Attaullah was a resident of Asmar district of Kunar, identifying the second Daesh militant as Abdullah, hailing from Chapa Dara district.
The duo had been sending newly-recruited Daesh youth to Nangarhar’s Achin and Pachiragam districts as reinforcement to the group there.
On the other hand, five Taliban insurgents have joined the peace process in Kunar, according to Himmat, who said the group had been active in Narai district. Himmat claimed ‘a larger group of insurgents would soon reconcile and join the peace process.
Elsewhere, three civilians suffered injuries in a bomb explosion in Behsud district of eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday.
Nangarhar governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News the rickshaw-borne bomb went off in Saracha area of the district at about 3pm.
A doctor at the civil hospital described condition of the wounded people as stable, saying they had been discharged after treatment.
