QALAT (Pajhwok): Local officials on Wednesday said two security posts have fallen to Taliban militants following an attack that left six security personnel dead and five others wounded in southern Zabul province.
A local security official, who wished to go unnamed, told Pajhwok Afghan News the security posts based in Arghandab district of the province were came under the rebels attack on Tuesday night.
The militants stormed several posts in the area but the control of two of them was lost to the rebel group, the official said.
The source added that five policemen and an Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier was killed and two policemen and three other ANA soldiers wounded in the battle.
The militants also suffered casualties but their exact figures is still unknown, the source said.
Taliban claimed capturing two security posts and killing 16 soldiers.
