KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a businessman in the capital of southeastern Khost province on Thursday, an official said.
Police chief Brig. Gen. Faizullah Ghairat told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident took place at around 7:00am in the Mardikhel area of Khost City.
Three businessmen came under attack on their way to home, with one killed. The assailants managed to flee the area, but police have launched a manhunt for the killers.
Ahmad, a resident of the area, said the assailants also kidnapped a child accompanying the three traders. The child was reportedly injured before being snatched by the attackers.
He believed the gunmen had probably attacked the businessmen in an attempt to kidnap them. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
