BAKU (Pajhwok): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Friday wrapped up his two-day visit to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, where he attended the 7th ministerial conference of the Heart of Asia -- Istanbul Process.
Ghani was seen off by Finance Minister Samir Sharifov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Afghanistan and Turkmenistan Hasan Zeynalov and other officials at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport
A guard of honor was arranged for the departing president at the airport decorated, where the national flags of the two countries were hoisted.
At a meeting with host President Ilham Aliyev, Ghani lauded Azerbaijan for providing Afghanistan its air corridor when the route for NATO forces was blocked.
“On behalf of the Afghan people, I would like to thank you for the support you have provided to us for many years. When the route of NATO forces was blocked, you provided your air corridor,” he said.
