The suicide attack targeted a panel discussion of students at the Sada-i-Afghan news agency building, killing 41 people and injuring dozens more.
Sada-i-Afghan official Syed Hussain Hussaini said some journalist were there to cover the academic event at the Tabeyan Culture Center located at the Sada-i-Afghan news agency building. After the first blast, there were two more blasts outside the building, he said.
He told the Afghanistan Journalists Center that Jamhor news agency reporter Syed Mehdi Hussaini was killed and 11 more injured including reporters with Sada-i-Afghan, Nahu and Shamshad TV.
Jamhor news agency also confirmed the death of its young reporter in the carnage.
Afghanistan Journalists Center director Ahmad Quraishi in a statement issued to Pajhwok Afghan News said the attack on the Sada-i-Afghan news agency was an attack on the entire Afghanistan media.
