President Ghani appoints 5 new governors: IDLG

KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani has appointed new governors for Laghman, Logar, Maidan Wardak, Samangan and Kunduz provinces, the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) said on Saturday.

A IDLG statement to Pajhwok Afghan News said the five governors were appointed based on recommendations of the directorate.

Abdul Jabbar Naeemi has been appointed as the governor for northern Kunduz province, Asif Nang, who previously served as Farah governor has been appointed as the governor of eastern Laghman province.

Anwar Khan Ishaqzai has been appointed as the governor of central Logar province, Dr. Shajehan of central Miadan Wardak province and Abdul Latif Ibrahimi of northern Samangan province, the statement said.

The IDLG appreciated the services of the former governors.
