PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The newly-appointed governor of central Logar province on Tuesday took charge, identifying improvement in security as his top priority.

Governor Mohammad Anwar Ishaqzai, who was introduced to a gathering here, demanded cooperation from the masses in running all provincial affairs.

Ishaqzai said he would make every effort at ensuring security in Logar. He, however, said success in all departments could be achieved if people, ulema and tribal elders supported him in his mission.

“Youth, tribal elders and other stakeholders will be consulted ahead of every rehabilitation or security programme,” he said.

Addressing the gathering, former Governor Mohammad Halem Fedai said more work was needed to develop Logar.

“In my three years tenure, I gave priority to public interest not to their demands and did whatever served the interest of people,” he said.

Fedai accused foreign forces stationed in Logar of non-cooperative behavior with Afghan security forces. He did not provide more details.
