KUNUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Elders, youth, civil society activists and common people on Wednesday erected a peace tent in this capital city of northern Kunduz province, urging the warring sides to strike peace deal.
Ghulam Haidar Haidar, one of the participants, told Pajhwok Afghan News the tent was erected by common people and they had no political agenda. “Our solo demand from all sides is peace,” he said.
Abdul Ghafoor, another participant in the ten, said the Afghans were fed up with daily fighting and wanted pace in the country.
“We want the Taliban and the government to stop killing common people and destroying the country,” he said.
Kalimullah Safi said the tent was erected in the support of similar sit ins tent in southern Helmand and other several provinces. “Our motto is stop killing us, no more fighting, we want peace.”
Safi added the tent would remain until peace was established in the country.
Peace tents have already been erected in Helmand, Kabul, Zabul, Ghazni, Paktia, Khost, Nimroz, Farah, Kunar and Herat provinces.
