Helmand peace convoy en route to Ghazni from Zabul

QALAT (Pajhwok): The walking peace convoy from southern Helmand has reached neighboring Zabul province where nine more individuals joined the movement and started their journey to Ghazni province.

Around three months back, a number of people erected a tent in Helmand province after many people were killed and wounded in suicide attacks in Lashkargah, the provincial capital.

The tent participants started their journey on foot from Helmand to central capital Kabul to demand the warring sides enter peace talks.

One of the peace convoy members, Iqbal Khyber, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the aim of their movement was to convey their voice to the warring sides and the public.

He said they started their journey around 10 days ago and would continue their walk to Kabul for delivering their message to all people and meeting everyone.

Khyber said their convoy was getting larger with each passing day as nine more people joined them from Qalat, the capital of Zabul.

Anar Gul Noori, who freshly joined the peace convoy from Qalat, said the end of every war was peace so the Afghans should understand the situation and stop killing each other.

He said they would try to encourage the Taliban.

The peace convoy members spent three days in Qalat city where they conveyed their message to local people through meetings in mosques and public places and explained their policy and aims.

Besides many other provinces, a peace tent is also erected in Qalat city.
