MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Three Taliban, including Qari Zubair deputy insurgency in-charge, has been killed the group’s weapons and military vehicles in their position destroy in security forces operation in northwestern Faryab province, an official said on Monday.
Afghan commando forces stormed the Taliban leadership centre in the Khawaja Sabz Posh district on Sunday night, said Commando Unit Spokesman Ahmad Javed Saleem.
Two Humvee vehicles, the Taliban weapons depot destroyed and some weapons including Kalashnikovs and rockets recovered by security forces, he said.
The commando raid happened at times when large scale operation to reopen the Maimana-Jawzjan highway and clear the Qarmaqul, Dawlatabad, Sherin Tagab and Khawaja Sabz Posh had been launched.
District Chief Abdullah Masoumi confirmed to Pajhwok Afghan News the commando forces raid and said the Taliban suffered heavy losses in the overnight raid.
