KABUL (Pajhwok): A would-be suicide bomber was killed before he could reach his target in the Shahr-i-Naw neighbourhood of Kabul on Monday.
Police spokesman Hashmatullah Stanikzai said the attacker was shot dead in the capital at around 11am.
He said the suspected bomber planned to target a rally in support of Nizamuddin Qaisari in the Shahr-i-Naw Park.
However, the bomber was positively identified by police and shot dead. An eyewitness, Kamal Ahmad, said he also heard gunshots close to the venue of the rally.
