ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Counter-narcotics police have arrested a drug smuggler with two kilograms of heroin on the border with Iran in southwestern Nimroz province, an official said on Wednesday.
Ahmad Parwaiz Sistani, the provincial crime branch chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the smuggler was detained in Pul-i-Abrashim area at the zero point on the border between Afghanistan and Iran.
He said the suspect had skillfully hidden narcotics in cavities of his oil tanker and wanted to smuggle the heroin to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas.
According to another report, two armed robbers were arrested while snatching the goods of passengers in Pashtunkot district of Faryab at 10am in the morning, police spokesman said.
Abdul Karim Yourish added the thieves were captured with one Kalashnikov, more than 63,000 afghanis and five mobile phone sets.
