KABUL (Pajhwok): Security forces on Sunday detained an illegal armed group commander Alipur in capital Kabul, an official said.
Kabul police chief Lt. Gen Sayed Mohammad Roshandil told Pajhwok Afghan News that joint security forces arrested commander Alipur in the limits of 6th police district in Kabul City at around 11 am.
He said Alipur was detained after the Attorney General Office issued his arrest warrant.
However, he did not provide information why Alipur was arrested but said if he had not committed any crime, he would be released formally otherwise he would be punished according to the law.
Some sources termed Alipur as a pro-government uprising group commander. But Nasrat Rahimi, deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, had earlier said: “Alipur’s irresponsible gunmen extort people on highways in Maidan Wardak, Bamyan and Ghor provinces.”
An eyewitness said Alipur was arrested in Qala-i-Qazi area of Kabul City as he arrived there in a taxi.
The taxi was chased by two corolla cars occupied by men in plain clothes carrying pistols. They tightened a scarf around Alipur’s head and took him away, he said.
“When his head was covered with the scarf, Alipur removed the scarf and shout loudly “I’m commander Alipur.”
