KABUL (Pajhwok): Korean Ambassador in Kabul Rhee Zha Hyoun on Monday inaugurated a library at the Kabul University to promote Korean culture and literature.
The ambassador, addressing at the inauguration event, said the library would help familiarize the people of Afghanistan and politics.
University teachers, students of Korean language course attended the event. The library will have 1,000 books in Korean language.
Recalling history, the envoy said his country had been in social, political and economic crisis like Afghanistan of today but now Koreans had attained self-reliance.
He added the new generation of Afghanistan could learn from Korean experience of achieving self-reliance and pulling Afghanistan out of its crises.
Hameedullah Farooqi, chancellor of Kabul University and presidential advisor, welcomed the opening of the library at Kabul University and added the Korean language course was being taught here but there was no specific place for the students.
“We are trying to create a Korean language department in the faculty of literature in future,” he said.
