13 security personnel killed, injured in Sar-i-Pul attack

SAR-I-PUL (Pajhwok): Six Afghan National Army (ANA) personnel have been killed and seven others injured in the Taliban attack in the Sozma Qela district of northern Sar-i-Pul province, an official said on Friday.

Governor spokesman Zabihullah Amani told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident happened on Thursday night in the Gorkab locality.

The Taliban stormed security forces check-posts in the area at around 9:30 pm and beaten back when reinforcement reached, he said.

A resident of locality, who wished to go unnamed, said five security personnel killed, eight others injured and a check-post felt to the Taliban in the overnight attack.

The Taliban have yet to comment about the incident.
