KABUL (HPC) secretary and president’s special envoy for peace, Mohammad Omar Daudzai has met with India’s Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in New Delhi.
Daudzai and Swaraj discussed India’s role in regional peace consensus, progress in peace talks, economic development, stability in Afghanistan and bilateral ties.
In an exclusive interview with WION’s Principal Diplomatic Correspondent SidhantSibal, Daudzai said that India had legitimate interest in the Afghan peace process.
About Pakistan, he added that Islamabad need to be encouraged to shun the use of terror as a policy.
When asked what transpired in your meet with Indian’s foreign minister and NSA, Daudzai said “Afghanistan and India are very close partners and we have signed a strategic document as India so far has fulfilled its commitments as strategic partner very well. We discussed some issues regarding peace, reconciliation and regional coordination which are necessary for reconciliation.
In response to a question regarding’ India’s role in Afghanistan peace process, Daudzai said that India was playing a vital role even on regional and global level as the country had made significant efforts for the Afghan peace dialogues.
Daudzai sought further cooperation from India regarding the Afghan peace process and other areas in Afghanistan.
