KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Afghan commando forces escaped unhurt in a motorcycle bomb blast that killed two civilians --- a woman and a child – and wounded 17 others in the capital of southeastern Khost province on Saturday, police said.
The blast targeted the commando forces’ convoy in Faiz Mohammad Khan area south of Khost City, the provincial capital, at about 5:30pm, said provincial police spokesman Abdil Haider.
He told Pajhwok Afghan News that a child and a woman had been killed and 12 other civilians injured in the blast. He said the bomb had been planted on a motorcycle that was detonated as the elite force convoy passed by.
Meanwhile, Khost public health director Dr. Habib Shah Ansari confirmed two dead bodies and 17 injured people had been evacuated to the provincial hospital and private clinics.
There was no claim of responsibility for the blast till filing of this report.
