QALAT (Pajhwok): Eight policemen have been killed and six others wounded in Taliban attack in southern Zabul province, an official said on Sunday.
Gul Salam Sial, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that militants stormed a security check-post in Spin Ghbargi area of Qalat City, the provincial capital on Saturday night.
Policemen suffered casualties but he was unaware of the exact number.
A source, wishing anonymity, said eight policemen were killed and six others wounded in the overnight assault.
Taliban spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadi claimed the militants had killed 15 policemen and overran the check-post. But the police spokesman rejected the fall of the check-post.
