PUL-I-LAM (Pajhwok): Intelligence operatives have arrested the civil society’s association head for central Logar province and he is currently being interrogated, an official said on Monday.
Almost two week back, Guardian newspaper and TOLO News published an investigation report that quoted Logar civil society’s association head, Musa Mahmoodi, about sexual abuse of male school students in Logar.
The Guardian report said 546 boy students of six schools in Logar were sexually misused by a circle of teachers, senior students and powerful figures.
Mahmoodi’s expression sparked protests by a number of Logar residents who demanded the arrest of Mahmoodi.
Dedar Lawang, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Musa Mahmoodi has been detained by National Directorate of Security (NDS for clarification of the issue.
He said, “Mahmoodi is currently under NDS interrogation.”
However, Sayed Qaribullah Sadat, a member of the Provincial Council, told Pajhwok that NDS personnel had arrested Musa Mahmoodi three days back.
He said, “The Ministry of Education investigations show Musa Mahmoodi’s expressions in this regard were baseless and untrue.”
Pajhwok tried to contact Mahmoodi’s family in this regard, but the calls went unanswered.
A few days back, Musa Mahmoodi told Pajhwok that the Guardian newspaper and TOLO News had misconstrued his speeches in this regard.
