KABUL, was reopened for light traffic on Tuesday morning, an official said.
The highway was shut for traffic due to heavy snowfall and strong winds on Monday.
Samiullah, the highway maintenance commander, told Pajhwok Afghan News the route had reopened for all traffic barring cargo trucks at around 9:30am.
He said six avalanches hit the southern part of the highway. But the snow was cleared as a result of strenuous efforts.
In the winter, traveling the highway is dangerous for passengers due to heavy snow and cold weather.
