KABUL (Pajhwok): A suspect in a knife attack on an Afghan student in the western Indian state of Goa has been detained, police said on Tuesday.
Matiullah Aria, pursuing an M.Com course at the Goa Business School, was injured in the attack and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of a private hospital in Dona Paula.
One suspect was arrested in connection with the attack on the 24-year-old Afghan, local police told Indian media outlets. The alleged attacker was identified as Satish Nilkanthe, a Maharashtra resident.
The Press Trust of India quoted a police official as saying: "The reason behind the assault is not known. We are interrogating the accused." The accused has been booked under Section 326 of the Indian Penal Code.
