FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Some women province on Tuesday complained about fake Facebook accounts in their names that upload immoral content.
Facebook is a social media handler through which its user posts views, photos, video clips and events.
Its links could be shared for news, interesting materials, chatting, watching videos and searching for friends.
Some women and girls in Ghor province told Pajhwok Afghan News that they were concerned over fake facebook accounts in their names, saying objectionable content were uploaded to such fake accounts.
Sawdaba, 21, a student of English Literature Faculty in Ghor University, said a fake account was created in her name last year and it published her images which were available on her real Facebook account.
“I have one facebook page in my name, but if you search, you will find ten more facebook profiles in my name with my profile picture which is very disturbing,” she said.
“In a fake facebook account in my name, an objectionable picture was published. My brother saw that picture and when I returned home, he was angry and beaten me. Despite knowing that it was a fake account, he never allowed me to use facebook,” she said.
Paresa, who has been using Facebook for the past five years, said fake social media handlers existed in her name.
She said: “There is a fake facebook account in my name, in which immoral materials are uploaded.”
She said such immoral acts were the handiwork of unwise individuals. “With such act, these people destroyed my family and relative’s trust,” she said.
Munir, 23, a resident of Ferozkoh City, termed fake accounts an immoral act. He said: “This is not fair to create a fake facebook account, it has no benefit.
Zarmina Kishtyar, legal affairs director at the Women Affairs Department, termed facebook a vital social media handler and added that some residents used facebook negatively.
“We witnessed some incidents of violence and family divide only because of fake facebook accounts,” she said.
“Fake facebook accounts are not only harmful for girls, but there are some individuals who use them for political purposes and insulting ethnic groups and communities,” she said.
Anisa Ghiour, member of the Provincial Council, said creation of fake social media accounts in girls name in Ghor had caused several problems including family violence and divisions.

Information Affairs Director Fakhruddin Aryapour acknowledged that fake accounts was a big challenge for facebook users, especially for women and girls.
He asked social media users and particularly those involved in creation of fake accounts to positively use the social media handlers.
Several other social media users in other provinces, including Kabul, have complained about fake accounts in their names.
