31 Indians quarantined on return from Afghanistan

KABUL, a media report said on Tuesday.

Thirty-one individuals, including 26 security force personnel and four diplomats from the Indian consulate in Jalalabad, were flown to their country on Monday.

New Delhi has temporarily closed Indian consulates in Jalalabad and Herat City over fears of the COVID-19 pandemic and growing security threats, according to The Hindu.

The returnees were taken directly to a special medical facility of the Indo Tibetan Border Police in Chhawla for 14 days of quarantine, the newspaper reported.

More Ministry of External Affairs and ITBP personnel from the consulate in Herat might return home on Thursday. Consulate operations will resume after a detailed security assessment.
