Javed Faisal, spokesperson for the National Directorate of Security, the release of the Taliban prisoners amid at support from peace process and fight against coronavirus considering the age, health condition and period of their sentence.
The prisoners had been freed in Paktia, Badakhshan, Jawzjan, Ghazni, Baghlan, Khost, Paktika and Maidan Wardak provinces, said Faisal.
The government has so far released 487 Taliban prisoners in six phases.
The Taliban has so far released 60 government employees in which 19 were security personnel.
