AIBAK (Pajhwok): Nine members of a public uprising have been killed and another seven wounded in a Taliban attack in northern Samangan province, a public representative said on Wednesday.

Haji Raz Mohammad, the provincial council chairman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the casualties occurred last night when the insurgents stormed a check-point of the uprising force in Chaharmaghzak village of the Dara-i-Sauf Bala district.

Sultan Ali Sultani, the district’s administrative chief, also confirmed the incident to Pajhwok but did not provide further details.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the attack.
