During video consultations on Afghanistan agreed to promote intra-Afghan talks, a Russian media outlet reported on Thursday.
TASS quoted Russia’s special representative for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov as saying: “The main result is we will do our utmost together to speed up the exchange of prisoners between Kabul and the Taliban and to promote intra-Afghan talks.”
He added: “The exchange process is on. It is slower than we would like, but it is continuing and now the need has emerged to hold a preliminary discussion of further steps.”
Russia, China and the United States were represented by their special envoys for Afghanistan and Pakistan by a senior Foreign Office diplomat.
Under the February 29 peace agreement with the Taliban, the US and the NATO-led coalition will withdraw their forces from Afghanistan in 14 months.
On the other hand, the Taliban would not allow the use of Afghanistan’s soil for actions that threaten the security of the United States and its allies.
