KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghan government has objected to an unofficial meeting between Afghans from different walks of life in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
Few days back, Doha based Centre for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies CCHS published names of 45 Afghan political and civil society activists invited to an unofficial meeting.
The meeting is expected to take place in near future in Doha. But a reliable government source told Pajhwok Afghan News that government has opposed the meeting.
An objection letter from the Afghan government has been sent to Sultan Barakat, head of the institute.
According to the source, the CCHS works in different nations for conflict resolution and bringing together some key stakeholders for discussion on conflict resolution.
No discussion with the Taliban rights and other topics between host and invited Afghan individuals.
According to the source, the Afghan government raised objection over some of the participants of the meeting and the way the meeting will take place and other issues.
Earlier Sutlan Barakat on his twitter account wrote he was invited to a meeting on “Future academic meeting on Afghanistan.”
Names of Afghan politicians, former officials, Wolesi Jirga members and civil society activist were included in the list.
Sultan Barakat wrote the Afghan guests were futuristic people and influential and they were invited for vital discussion on matters that happened in post US and Taliban agreement.
During the meeting, future government, women rights and some other social and economic issues would be discussed.
Barakat stressed during the meeting there will be focus on technical aspects, explanation of views and analysis.
