KABUL (Pajhwok): A total of 250 Afghan families, comprising 1,083 people, have returned to Afghanistan from Iran and Pakistan in a single day, an official said on Monday.
Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), shared a report by the Commission for Addressing the Problems of Afghan Refugees on X.
According to the report, 91 families, comprising 476 people, returned through the Torkham crossing and were registered there.
The commission said 46 families, comprising 249 people, were transported from Torkham to their respective provinces, with more than 265,910 afghanis provided to cover their transportation costs.
A total of 606,000 afghanis was also provided in cash assistance to 76 families at Torkham, while health and communication services were provided at the Omari camp.
Meanwhile, 17 families, comprising 97 people, returned through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province.
Officials said 16 families, comprising 94 people, were transported to different provinces, with more than 136,800 afghanis provided for their transportation.
Another 150,000 afghanis was provided to 17 families at Spin Boldak, while food, health and communication services were also made available.
According to the report, 129 families, comprising 481 people, returned through the Silk Bridge in Nimroz province. In addition, 1,068 individual travellers entered Afghanistan through the crossing.
A further 13 families, comprising 29 people, returned through the Islam Qala crossing in Herat province. The commission said 80,000 afghanis was provided to six families there.
The commission also transferred 37 families, comprising 172 people, from Kabul to different provinces and provided them with 141,350 afghanis for transportation costs.
Overall, the commission said 250 families, comprising 1,083 people, had returned to Afghanistan, while 99 families, comprising 515 people, were transported to their respective provinces.
Assistance was provided to 104 families, while 112 SIM cards from various telecommunications networks were distributed to returnees.
