KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said on Sunday 59 more individuals had tested positive for Covid-19 in Afghanistan in the past 24 hours.
In a statement, the ministry said 476 individuals underwent tests and 59 of them were diagnosed with the virus, taking the nation’s tally to 40,200.
At least 31 new cases were recorded in Herat, six in Takhar, five each in Balkh, Baghlan and Parwan provinces, three in Farah, two in Kabul and one each in Kandahar and Zabul provinces.
About 53 people recovered from the pandemic during the period, pushing up the number of recoveries to 33,614, the statement added.
Four people lost their lives to the pandemic in the past 24 hours, taking the number of deaths to 1,492, the statement added.
