KABUL insurgents have been killed in an airstrike in central Kapisa province, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said on Wednesday.
In a statement, MoD said the airstrike targeted the militants in Tagab district. Three rebel commanders killed in the raid were identified as Qari Mir Agha, Qari Himmat, Mohammad and Qari Naeem.
Mohammad Shamal, a resident of the of Mirakhel area of Tagab, said the Taliban stormed and overran a security check-post of uprising forces.
He said a subsequent airstrike targeted the rebels and as a result five of them were killed. However, the Taliban have not yet commented about the raid.
According to another report, a 25-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified gunmen Charikar, the capital of central Parwan province,
Crime branch chief Mohammad Sadiq Hashimi said two suspects had been detained in connection with the murder. There was no claim of responsibility for the killing.
