First ever heart surgery in Kabul hospital successful

KABUL (Pajhwok): The first ever heart surgery has been successfully performed at the Indira Gandhi Children Hospital in Kabul.

In a statement, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said doctors of the children hospital’s heart surgery department successfully operated on a two and a half years old child having a heart disease.

This was the first ever operation of the kind in this hospital, the ministry said.The ailing child was brought to the hospital from Faryab province and currently he is in good condition.

Acting public health minister Dr. Ahmad Jawad Usmani has recently inaugurated the heart surgery center at the children hospital.
