PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan’s key regional priority at the moment is bringing peace and stability to Afghanistan, Prime Minister Imran Khan says.
Pakistan had played a “huge part” in bringing the US and the Taliban to the table, he told a World Economic Forum event on Wednesday.
Islamabad had also facilitated the intra-Afghan dialogue, he claimed, voicing concern at rising levels of violence in Afghanistan.
Peace in Afghanistan would have huge dividends for the entire region, believed the premier, who credited Pakistan with helping Afghan stakeholders.
To him, Khan said, President Trump’s greatest achievement the resumption of the Afghan peace process. “He literally forced this peace process to take place.”
Khan went on to say he was convinced that President-elect Joe Biden would not reverse the peace process in Afghanistan.
