LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock director for southern Halmand province says efforts are underway to promote saffron crop in order to prevent puppy’s cultivation.
ZalmaiAlako in an exclusive interview told Pajhwok Afghan News that they had launched efforts to promote the cultivation of saffron.
He said: “We cultivated saffron on a small piece of land in Helmand last year which had good result.” He added saffron was good alternative to puppy.
Mohammad AslamBashardost, Helmand cultivation affairs in charge, told Pajhwok that the saffron they cultivated last year had good yield.
Meanwhile, a farmer Khaliqdad said he planned to cultivate saffron on his land this year.
“It’s cultivation is easy, it needs little effort and could be very good replacement of puppy,” he added.
