Helmand cop dead in botched car bomb attack

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): A policeman was killed in a car suicide bomb attack in Greshk district of southern Helmand province last night.

The incident took place at around 10pm (Thursday) in the Muhajir Bazaar area of ​​the district, Greshk district police chief Mohammad Ismail Khpalwak told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The suicide bomber detonated his explosives-laden car after being identified and shot at by police at the Shaheed Nusrat checkpoint, he said.

Khpalwak said one policeman and the attacker were killed and no one else was harmed in the blast.

The Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.
