KABUL (Pajhwok): The cabinet has discussed the government’s preparations for the withdrawal of all international troops from the country.
Chairing the cabinet meeting, President Ashraf Ghani explained the exit of foreign forces in no way meant the weakening of Kabul-Washington ties.
According to a statement from the Presidential Place, Ghani told Monday’s meeting the US withdrawal opened a new chapter in bilateral relations.
The statement added the cabinet also conferred on the enforcement of bilateral and multilateral agreements following the departure of the American forces.
The participants proposed convening a Loya Jirga on Afghanistan’s impartiality in the wake of the foreign troop withdrawal, a process which will be completed by September 11.
