Karzai voices grief over Nasim Wali Khan’s passing

KABUL (Pajhwok): Ex-president Hamid Karzai has voiced his deep shock at the death of Begum Naseem Wali Khan, widow of Khan Abdul Wali Khan.

Karzai said in a statement from his office Nasim Wali Khan led the Awami National Party (ANP) after imprisonment of her illustrious spouse.

She served her people through politics, Karzai said, calling her death a tragedy. She also served as a parliamentarian for three tenures.

Nasim Wali was the first woman from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to participate in the non-party elections of 1977 under Gen. Ziaul Haq.
