SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): An uprising force commander and his son were killed during a clash with Taliban insurgents in northern Jawzjan province, a security source said on Tuesday
The source, who did not want to be named, told Pajhwok Afghan News that heavy fighting broke out between security forces and Taliban in Faizabad district late on Monday night and continued until Tuesday morning.
He said in the clash, a commander of the uprising named Islam was killed along with his son and five other members were wounded.
According to the source, the clash ended when fresh troops were sent to the scene. The source added that the Taliban also suffered casualties in the battle, but exact number was not known.
Abdul Shakur, a resident, confirmed the clash and said that people were used to such clashes. He added that the conflict was intense and there could be heavy casualties on both sides.
