KABUL (Pajhwok): One person has been killed and another injured in a clash between the nephew of Salahuddin Rabbani, head of the Jamiat-e-Islami Afghanistan (JIA) party, and security guards of Kabul Governor Mohammad Yaqoub Haidari, a well-placed source said on Thursday.
The source said the clash happened on Wednesday evening in Kart-i-Parwan Township of capital Kabul.
“The governor’s house is situated in the Kart-i-Parwan township. Rabbani’s nephew came to the township and caused disorder which was prevented by the security guards of the governor but Rabbani’s nephew went outside for a while and returned with more vehicles and security men which caused a clash between the two sides,” according to the source.
Safiullah Noori, the driver of Rabbani’s television Noor TV, was killed and his nephew got injured in the clash.
Police Spokesperson Basir Mujahid confirmed the clash in the 17th Police District last night and said one person had been killed.
He did not provide more details but added police had arrived in the area, lunched investigation and arrested six armed persons.
Kabul Governor Spokesperson NasirMehri rejected the incident and said no clash has happened. The Kabul governor was not reached for comment.
Noor Television News Editor Abdul Wahab Ammar said their driver Safiullah was killed in the clash. He served as driver in the TV, he added.
