KABUL (Pajhwok): The US military has conducted two drone strikes against Taliban positions in northern Baghlan and Kunduz provinces.
Fox News reported on Friday an unknown number of insurgents were killed in the drone attacks in the two provinces.
The strikes took place before President Ashraf Ghani met his US counterpart Hoe Biden at the White House on Friday afternoon.
The attacks come as most of America’s remaining forces are leaving Afghanistan in the coming weeks, well ahead of the September 11 deadline.
An Afghan security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the drone strikes.
US military spokesman Sonny Legget said: “We don’t have anything to announce on strikes. However, we do continue to support the ANDSF in accordance with the US-Taliban agreement.”
