KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations has said all its offices are open in Afghanistan and their local and international partners are also working in the country.
EnamullahSamangani, Deputy Spokeswoman for the caretaker government, tweeted that Deborah Lyons, head of United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), met with Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, deputy Afghan foreign minister on Monday.
Samangani said that during the meeting, the head of UNAMA expressed her confidence about their security and said that all their offices in Afghanistan were open and their local and international partners were also busy alongside them.
He also said that Deborah Lyons also met with deputy prime minister, Mualvi Abdul Salam Hanafi today and provided information about her recent trip to the US and her meeting with the officials of World Bank.
“We pay the salaries of teachers and health personnel and try to buy food from inside Afghanistan and distribute it to the needy people,” Lyons was quoted as saying.
Samangani added that deputy prime minister Hanafi during the meeting with Lyons said that there were no security threats to any foreign agencies in Afghanistan and foreign organizations who left some projects in Afghanistan incomplete could assist the new government in completing them.
