PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Following a Pajhwok Afghan News report on corruption in revenue from the property of the Northern Coal Enterprise, officials in northern Baghlan say the report helped them improve governance and increase focus on their duties.

On December 6, Pajhwok published a report that over 31 million afghanis revenue has been embezzled from the Northern Coal Enterprise property during the past 13 years.

On the issue, Maulvi Abdullah Hamid, director of Baghlan Mines and Petroleum, told Pajhwok Afghan News that after the Pajhwok report, they increased focus on their duty.

“I’m very happy with the Pajhwok Afghan News report that the last 13 years revenue of our enterprise went to private pockets instead of the treasure, we will focus more on our duties,” Maulvi Hamid said.

He added: “This report was very important in realizing us our duty and in reducing and eliminating corruption.”

Maulvi Asadullah Mustaf Hashimi, director of information and culture, said: “Pajhwok’s latest investigative reports are of great value and are based on facts.”

He hoped that other media outlets would also publish investigative reports on corruption.

He said such reports were important in preventing and eradicating corruption. He thanked Pajhwok and said that Pajhwok should continue to produce investigative reports on corruption.
