IRCRCF pledges support for drug addicts’ rehabilitation

KABUL (Pajhwok): The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement on Thursday pledged support for the rehabilitation of drug addicts and launch of special programmes for them.

The commitment was held out at a meeting between a IRCRCF delegation and acting Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said in a statement.

The visiting team promised to support the Interior Ministry’s Department of Counter-Narcotics in the rehabilitation of drug addicts and launch of special programmes for them.

However, the statement did not provide details of the support for the rehabilitation of addicts and special programmes for them.

Currently 3.6 million people across Afghanistan are addicted to drugs while 4.5 million others are disabled.
