KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has warned of a possible death of a million children in Afghanistan if immediate action is not taken.
UNICEF has once again expressed concern over the plight of malnourished children in Afghanistan.
In a tweet today, Wednesday, UNICEF said that if immediate action is not taken, a million children could die from severe malnutrition in Afghanistan.
“Without urgent action, one million children could die from severe acute malnutrition. UNICEF is providing high energy peanut paste to children to support their recovery,” the source said.
The agency also said that the Indira GandhiChildren’s Hospital in Kabul was currently full of seriously malnourished children.
UNICEF estimates that 3.2 million children in Afghanistan will suffer from acute malnutrition in 2022.
