PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan and China have urged the global fraternity not to forget the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan because of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi during issued the call during a telephone conversation on Tuesday.
The Foreign Office (FO) in Islamabad said: “They emphasised the need for the international community to sustain humanitarian assistance for the Afghan people.”
A statement from FO said the two foreign ministers discussed continuing efforts for lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan.
With a million refugees fleeing to European countries from Ukraine, the world has shifted its attention away from the situation in Afghanistan.
Qureshi highlighted Pakistan’s position on war in Ukraine, hoping talks between Moscow and Kiev would succeed and the two sides would reach a diplomatic solution.
