KABUL (Pajhwok): With Afghanistan facing food insecurity, fresh assistance from China has been distributed in in the capital Kabul.
The fifth batch of Chinese food aid — 600 tonnes of rice — was distributed at a ceremony in Kabul on Friday.
A distribution ceremony, attended by Deputy Minister of Refugee Affairs Arsala Kharoti and the commercial counselor of the Chinese embassy, was held here.
According to Xinhua news agency, Kharoti thanked China for the humanitarian aid, saying the assistance had been distributed to deserving families.
More than 22 million people in Afghanistan are facing acute food shortages and a humanitarian crisis, according to aid agencies.
