MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation has started distributing food items to 1300 families in central Maidan Wardak province.

Acting Minister for Refugees Khalilur Rehman Haqqani and his delegation arrived here to distribute the aid.

Haqqani said Chinese aid was being sent to all 34 provinces and their visit to Maidan Wardak province was aimed at delivering the aid to only those in need.

"We have sent eight containers of food items to Maidan Wardak province, which will be distributed to deserving families in all districts, including the provincial capital," he added.

He called on the provincial government and the department of refugee affairs to ensure that deserving families were identified.

Maidan Wardak Governor Mohammad Amin Omari assured that full justice would be served in the distribution of aid and that it would reach the deserving people.

According to him, the economic condition of the people of Maidan Wardak is not good, so the government should pay special attention to the province in the future.

Mohammad Amir, a resident of the provincial capital, told Pajhwok Afghan News that their economic situation was bad and one bag of rice was not enough to meet their needs. He asked the government to provide more food aid to them.

The aid is being distributed to hundreds of people who have come to the area to receive the aid, but the Department of Refugee Affairs says only those having aid cards will receive the aid.
