Power outages irk heat-wave stricken Jalalabad residents

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The residents of Jalalabad City, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, are complaining about continued and prolonged electricity outages.

They say most of the time during the day electricity goes out for several hours and that creates several issues for them.

Most of the provinces have been facing electricity shortage after two pylons were blown up in southern Salang district of Parwan province on April 30 night.

Samiullah, a resident of Ulfat Mena area in the limits of first Police District, said load shedding lasted up to three hours and that caused several issues for them.

“My house is small, it doesn’t have enough space and when there is electricity outage, it become difficult to stay in,” he said.

Rahim Gul, a resident of Chahel Metra Sarak area in Fourth Police District, said due to electricity outage one of their family members got sick.

He demanded electricity pylons should be rehabilitated soon to connect the suspended electricity and that could accommodate the current demand.

Eng. Hamid Qureshi, Da Afghanistan Breshna Shirkat Operating In-Charge for Nangarhar, said there was no issue during the night but due to the electricity supply shortage, every locality has to endure up to three hours load-shedding.

He said once the imported electricity was reconnected, this problem would be resolved.
