KABUL (Pajhwok): Moscow has renewed its call for the immediate unfreezing of Afghanistan’s foreign reserves blocked by the United States.
Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev also stressed efforts to hike international humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.
TASS news agency quoted Patrushev as saying: “It is necessary to facilitate the earliest possible unfreezing of Afghan assets illegally blocked by US…”
Speaking at a meeting on Afghanistan on Friday, he argued the money could be spent on social and economic projects in the country.
The Russian security chief added: “We believe the UN should be the main coordinator in solving the whole range of problems of post-conflict reconstruction of Afghanistan.”
